Portable Document Format (PDF)
Most of the publications
available on our site have been posted in Portable Document Format
(PDF), a file format invented and maintained by Adobe Systems Incorporated.
These documents may be read with Adobe Acrobat Reader, which is
free and can be downloaded from Adobe's
website.
Our publications are
posted in PDF1.3 and can be read with Acrobat Reader 4.0 or later.
If you have difficulty opening or viewing a document, check that
you have a recent version of Reader. We recommend that you use the
most recent version, Acrobat Reader 5.0.
Viewing PDF files
in your browser
Files in PDF may also be viewed
one page at a time within most browsers if the correct plug-in has
been installed and configured. To view PDF files in your browser,
click once on the link. Our PDF files have been optimized for viewing
on screen and you should be able to use this feature if your browser
is correctly configured.
If the PDF files are coming
up blank and your browser is Internet Explorer you will need to
change the security settings. You can do this by clicking on the
"Tools" option and then selecting "Internet Options". Click on the
tab for "Security" and then select either "Medium" or the "Default"
option. This will allow you to view PDF files and still maintain
safe browsing.
Acrobat Reader
To obtain Acrobat Reader
5.0, go to
http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep.html and
follow the instructions for retrieving the installation file for
your computing platform. To install Acrobat Reader on your computer,
double-click the file that has been downloaded to your hard drive.
Those who use NT or Windows 2000 or XP may need "Administrator"
privileges to install new software.
Saving PDF files to your computer

saved on your computer's hard drive so that you may read or print
them at your leisure. To do this in Internet Explorer on the Windows
